4ft Pimp Go to Planet Rock

On Friday 30th March seaside rockers 4ft Pimp visited Planet Rock radio station in Leicester Square, London to attend a presentation following their victory in the Tony Iommi unsigned band competition at the end of 2006.

The Black Sabbath guitarist’s competition which was hosted on his ‘Black Sunday’ show in autumn 2006 was held over a 13 week period and received hundreds of entries resulted in 4ft Pimp being named as Iommi’s favourite unsigned band. When announcing the result Tony said of the band, “I think that ticks all the boxes… they’ve really got something!”

The song in question which earned this incredible acclaim was Great Aunt Anaconda, the opening track from 4ft Pimp’s ‘Simple Pleasures, Drastic Measures’ EP. As part of the prize the band will now have the opportunity to make a music video for this song with media specialists Grass Roots. As well as this those lovely lads from 4ft Pimp are now the privileged owners of a signed Tony Iommi Custom SG as well as his custom design Laney amplifier. This has caused a huge custody battle within the band which is due to be resolved in an out of court settlement next week. Despite this though when reflecting on the events surrounding the competition 4ft Pimp front man Greg Kiss said, “this competition has given us a huge push in the right direction and we’re thrilled to have been declared Tony Iommi’s favourite unsigned band.”
