Performers combine for farm concert
SOUTH Essex Youth Symphony Orchestra wowed an audience of more than 200 with an unusual collaboration in Rochford.
After starting with 20 minutes of operatic arias the orchestra had a break while Southend rock band 4ft Pimp shared the same stage at Sutton Hall Farm in Rochford.
As well as a love of music the two groups shared Liam Ambrose, a percussionist with the orchestra when not performing with the band.
Viennese waltzes and a performance by Geral Usher on the Compton organ he is restoring followed before 4ft Pimp rejoined the orchestra.
Together they performed a specially written number, Heaven's Scent before old favourites from Broadway and Pomp and Circumstance ended the show.
Symphony orchestra business manager Jonathan Roberts said: "The day was completed with strawberries and cream served to the audience on the lawn."
